Headed out with my son today, hoping to find him a monster gill. We had 2 on that looked to be close to 2lbs(guess) and definitely bigger than the 9-10" gills that we caught non stop. But wasn't our day today as he is still learning how to hold pole up and keep slack out of line.

His favorite part is throwing them back into the water and waving goodbye.

Some older kids were fishing close to us and asked if we would give them any small gills. Well the smallest we could catch was 7". So they took the 7" gill put it on hook and we went over to see what they were after.......

They were on a monster bass that was hanging out close to shore. (Not spawning) Almost immediately the bass jumped on the gill and sat there with most of the body hanging from its mouth!!!! It spit it out shortly after but was a site to see for sure.

The kids finally got a small 4" gill and with in minutes had the bass jumping out of the water after gill...it was unbelievable. They successfully hooked the bass and fought it for a while before I helped them land it. It weighed 5 1/2lbs!!!!!!!

In any case it was a blast!!!!! We then walked around and he got to play with snakes, turtles and big millipedes that the forest preserve had out there for the kids.

The horses were tall and he was pretty timid about them. Definitely good day to be out and about with my boy.
