Dawn Kopjo of Brookfield caught a 2-pound, 14.75-inch black fat-bellied crappie on a slip-bobber with a minnow over a brush pile in the southwest corner of Shabbona Lake on Mother's Day. Then she let the fish go. ''She decided to let the large female go so it could finish the spawning process -- from one mother to another,'' said her husband, Jim ''The Crappie Professor'' Kopjo. VERY nice crappie.

It only went 14"+? Yikes.....looks like a 3 footer!

Thanks a lot for gettin' her pic up Vic....and thanks guy's for the comments....water is still cool out there 54º at launch time and 59º at the end of the trip...got some good limit shot's too...on Denny's scale it went 2.10...at 14 3/4...think Vic needs to stop by and show me the ropes for posting pic's on site..... :bigyuck
