Sorry for this non existent posting about this but I have tried to wait as long as possible in case a window opened.(So to speak)

To have these leagues legally, I would have to get liability insurance for each division....costly to say the least. Also need to purchase special use permits......and then there is the simple fact that in DuPage, we are not allowed to have cash prize payouts on forest preserve property.

If guys want to do this for bragging rights....then go right on ahead but no cash can be involved.

Again I apologize for getting the ball going only to not have the right facts and failing.

Steve

Thanks for the effort you put into it. I've been watching the forum since it started and was hoping to get in. Maybe you can put it together for bragging rights or a trophy or something. I'll participate! Thanks again Steve, keep your head up! it was a great idea!!! :allah :thanks

We did a derby on Pistakee a couple years ago. Valleye set it up and did a great job getting prizes for big fish and best total weight and afterwards there was a raffle. Only problem I saw was a lot of people said they would be there and then they never showed up. I think we had less than 10 finally show up.

My motto on that is, sign up and show up or sit down and shut up.

You remember that Frank? Yeah we had a nice outing set up and only a handful of people showed up. It was a good time. Sorry to say but you have to expect that when setting something up. From what I recall i think we had about 20+ people say they would attend and 1/2 showed up.

Maybe do an outing just for people to meet and fish. :D

The result does not minimize your efforts and hard work you put into
it!

:thanks :thanks

Each sector of the Chicago suburbs can have their own outing and
no need for funds to be exchanged between fishermen but for a cause.

Take for example: "Walk On Water" in Crystal Lake!

Lets have fun this winter while helping others

Dang skippy I remember that. I met some great guys that day. People that changed my life. No BS'ing. I met JD Spinner, won a half day guided trip in the raffle. He ended up being a good friend. I met Geo7455, he and I to this day are good friends (at least that's my opinion) He has shown me how and where to fish the Fox Chain. It was the first time I Met Val and RSS too. Lots of guys say they'll do things for you. The guys I met there don't say it, as much as do it. I look at it this way, the quality people were there. Sorry if I sound a little sappy, must be the beer... :winker

Interesting thing happened that day. I was talking to JD and felt embarrassed for the turn out for the outing especially the donations he made. He said you know the number of people don't make an outing rather the individuals that showed up. He was right. I met Pops and Geo that day and always enjoyed their company, albeit not as much as I would like it to be. I remember Geo borrowing my auger and going off on his own. funny guy!!! and that Popeye guy who was known as? Man I forget your previous name......

Okay so lets pick a lake and have get together! I'll be hitting channel this weekend, I think. and i will let you know how it goes.

Steve, thanks for the effort man!!!! Don't worry we'll get some shindig goin. Esox always has some tip up thing and we can add to that also!

Val :D

Val, I used to be known as flounderhead. Funny, because the other day when I sent John (Esox), a text, he said it still came up as flounderhead on his caller ID.

Who cares about cash...bragging rights rule! Some of us newbies who have never met some of the other members would love an opportunity to have a meet and greet. Could there be a sort of potluck day/meet and greet/bragging rights only fishing contest? Just a thought.... If help is needed, Ill gladly help in any way I can.

Hi Gang!
With all that goes on in the world with people sueing over everything its amazing anything good happens. As previous stated I would like to have the chance to fish with you guys let me know when your going out and maybe I can make it. I have fished with Val and a few others in the past and thats alot of fun. The Newbiees would have a gret time and learn alot from thos of us who are "Long in the tooth".
I remember the days of metal buckets, spuds, broken ends off cane rods, and horse blankets! But thats another story for the ice!
I am looking for a new partner for next years NAIFC run maybe one tournament this season?
As always tight lines and lets get together and have fun.
Happy New Year!!!!!

Just saw this. Ice tourney would be cool to try. I do not have any conceivable notions on doing good, but if you wanna do your best, you got play with/against the best.

While I would not be able to do tourney this year. I may budget it in for next year. At least try one for the experience as the NAIFC looks like it could be an expensive deal...atv/trailer,hotel etc.......Maybe Geneva trip would make a good meet 'n'greet.
