Is ice fishing allowed in Waukegan harbor? The reason I ask is because I am thinking about starting to ice fish the harbors and I have no idea whether it's allowed in Waukegan or not.

Montrose would be a good place to start as there are a lot of fisherman there who might be very helpful to you. Don't know about Waukegan, sorry.

I do not know whether or not it s prohibited but I have ice fished the Waukegan harbor a couple of times. Never caught anything though!

Here is a link to the contact info for Waukegan Harbor. They would be best equipped to answer your question. Rather than going out there unaware of the rules which can shut down all access to everyone.

Final verdict: I called the Salmon Stop and they said that ice fishing is NOT allowed in Waukegan harbor. Whatever, I guess I will just try K-town (probably not since the harbor fishing there has been a joke this year) or maybe Racine.

Be carful in k-town they have bubblers by the boatlaunch. You can icefish at north point though i never had but i have friend who have.

Ice fishing has been allowed at Northpoint marina with strict limits to the first 2 docks. Which has been very good for pike,nice gills and crappie in past years.
