No treats at Waukegan today (or yesterday). Strong wind from the north and air temp of 46 degrees felt like low 30's - some trick! I started the day casting cranks by the Yacht Club - reports indicated that kings and coho were hitting on cranks there - but got nothing. A rod with skein attracted no action either. No fish were surfacing or jumping.

I then headed over the the inner harbor by South Rocks. Altough it has been slow there for me the past few weeks, I expect that the brownies and steelies will head in soon. Egg sacks and shrimp attracted no action however. The number of fish jumping was also down - only a few surfaced in two hours up until dark.

I looked over at SR: the water is noticeably clearer than it has been over the last week, but still slightly muddy. Before it got muddy I heard that browns were being taken on 'crawlers on the mudline. That may be my next tactic - tube jigs and cranks produced nothing there yesterday.

I'm looking forward to fall coho, browns and steelies - any day now would be fine!
