Going to clean up my dock, pick up dock box, etc this weekend and going to take my little guys fishing. Other than gobies, is there anything else worth pursuing in Montrose harbor this time of year? thinking about dropping a minnow on a slip bobber rig and dropping some corn on the bottom to see if we can hook a carp. any other ideas?

I'd throw a crank bait around and see if you can anger a salmonoid ... worth a shot. Maybe tube jig under a float like some have suggested as well - good luck!

At Montrose Harbor, on 10/26/2010 at about 3-5pm I caught (2) stocker brownies and (2) perch using just large minnow & bobber. Try changing depth and move your bobber with the current. I also had a large brown follow to surface my rattle trap in green& chartrouse.

Rainbows and Browns should be in the harbor. Perchies are not far off, too. Good luck! Go with the bobber idea, maybe get a couple at different depths. Some big fatheads may be all you need. It's minnow time. But having a crank nearby aint a bad idea either.

Was really windy, so bobber fishing was tough. But ended up catching about 20 gobies, a few perch and a small (6in) steelie. Had floats out looking for larger fish, but no luck. Kids had a blast so will try again in a few weeks, hopefully more perch will come in. Thanks all for your advice.
