Spectacular weather this weekend, so I hit Waukegan harbor to float some skein this afternoon. I was surprised that there was no one, and I mean no one, casting off of SR all afternoon. I got my limit for the year of stockers, but failed to get anything else to bite.

I'm looking forward to focusing on steelies and browns when the water gets a bit cooler, and trying to entice a coho into the net. King season is fun, but the fish are turning dark quickly!

They put around 35,000 steelhead fry in the harbor a month or so ago..... those are the stockers grumpybear is talking about.

Did anyone else catch anything?

I'm heading out this morning to cast cranks off the pier so I'm hoping the action has picked up since last weekend.

Well, I was there from 5:30 to 8:30 this morning and nobody got any action on the pier or South Rocks. Most people were throwing spoons for coho I guess or using salmon eggs to catch gobies! I also saw a lot of zombified kings swimming around and a few corpses floating. It looks like King season is just about over huh?

I thought we weren't allowed to fish off the pier anymore. Or am I thinking of something completely different?
