I have seen guys fishing the north half of the wall. Not sure what or who you have to be to get in there. I have never seen anyone fishing down by the discharge.

Drive into Calumet Park like you are going to the launch ramps, but instead of going to the ramps, continue going south to the plant. You drive right up to the fence and guard shack and park. The walk is from the shoreline out to the north face of the plant where the discharge is. Not bad if there isn't snow on the rocks. I thought I heard rumblings of that plant giving off excessive amounts of pollution. Not sure if it has been shut down because of that or not. Great place to fish when the shad are not getting in the way of the salmon.

You need to check in with the security guard if you enter from the Indiana side. It has been all reconfigured.

Anyone been out here lately? I'm planning to check it out for the first time either this Saturday or the next. What tactics work best out here; cranks? spoons? spinners? or live bait under a float?

I wouldn't plan on this Saturday. After this storm, walking thoughs rock out will be pretty much impossible. Casting works well when the shad allow you to do it with out snagging them in the process. Live bait or spawn is a good choice also.

Thanks, Tom. I'll take a pass this weekend and wait for better conditions. Better to be safe. I'll certainly report back after I make it out there.

Hey guys- I'm heading out there this Saturday AM for the first time. Anybody been out recently? It'll be my first time there so if you can provide me with any info you think would be helpful I'd greatly appreciate it.

Good fishin'

There are a group of walleye guys that skulk about too, but they tend to be very secretive. I have heard of some decent fish coming from that very area, but those guys speak in code and I didn't know the secret handshake.

Hit up the stateline discharge today. Nothing happening out there. Seen two ~5lb channel cats caught, that's it. Be careful out there with the snow melting.
