Welcome to the site Caseywise- I'm sure there's people fishing that area and maybe fly fishing, or maybe they don't know much about the area for fly fishing. Guess it's sort of winding down with archery and hunting season here.

I'm new here also although I really haven't flyfished illinois yet, I'm game. Seasons probably over but if you need a fellow flyman come spring shoot me a pm. I have only flyfished in colorado, montana, utah and oregon. I'm not the best in techinque or style, but its so much fun. Hit me up sometime and I'd be glad to make the ride.

oneilljd if you have an 8wt or better I would try hitting the root river just over the cheese curtain. It should be starting to rock and with a little rain it will bring in some fresh fish.

I used it hit it a lot during the week and had a great time. Stay away from it on the weekends, it can be combat fishing but if you get the chance during the week it's worth the cost of a Wi license.
