Mirror carp ?

Post subject:  Mirror carp ?
Went out today to the banks of the Little Calumet River for a little carp action.Caught what I believe is a mirror carp.Ugly sucker but fought good.

In total I got 9 carp all tightlining with corn,it was a fun day my biggest was a 26 inch common.

Lot of carp hanging around an overhanging mulberry tree.Even put a couple berries on the hook and did get a quick bite but,got cleaned off the hook too easy.Lot of muskrats cruising nearby too,hope they don't bite corn.

All in all an enjoyable day hanging out under the tree canopy watching the rod tips bounce.

Nice work - sounds like a fun day of carping! That's defiantely a Mirror carp. Tip on the mulberrys - use a light aberdeen style hook w/no weight - free line it under the tree and hold on for runs out of nowhere!

Very cool catch. I used to go carpin back during my shorebound days and never hooked into a mirror carp. Don't think they're very common in these parts, but that is definitely one. A great way to spend an afternoon before the northwinds of winter come!
