Went out today to the banks of the Little Calumet River for a little carp action.Caught what I believe is a mirror carp.Ugly sucker but fought good. ![]() In total I got 9 carp all tightlining with corn,it was a fun day my biggest was a 26 inch common. ![]() Lot of carp hanging around an overhanging mulberry tree.Even put a couple berries on the hook and did get a quick bite but,got cleaned off the hook too easy.Lot of muskrats cruising nearby too, hope they don't bite corn. ![]() All in all an enjoyable day hanging out under the tree canopy watching the rod tips bounce. |

Nice work - sounds like a fun day of carping! That's defiantely a Mirror carp. Tip on the mulberrys - use a light aberdeen style hook w/no weight - free line it under the tree and hold on for runs out of nowhere! |

Very cool catch. I used to go carpin back during my shorebound days and never hooked into a mirror carp. Don't think they're very common in these parts, but that is definitely one. A great way to spend an afternoon before the northwinds of winter come! |
