saw a huge ass koi in this local pond i just discovered. was wondering if any one had any pointers on catching it. i just figured to fish it with some corn or dough or maybe sight fish it with the fly rod...not to sure though since i've never caught one on rod and reel any pointers would be great..

We've accidentally caught them on pieces of hot dog. They are supposed to be vegetarians, which tells you something about hot dogs.

Mike,

I happen to have a pond near me with tons of koi in it and I have great results throwing small dry flies size 14-18 in front of them. It might take a few attempts for them to take it but usually it works. Good Luck!

Koi = Carp. Never saw a carp that wouldn't eat a piece of crawler.

Hey Matt, I would like to catch a few small koi to put in my backyard pond. Would you please pm me the location of the location of this pond. I would only take a few small ones and not fish it after that. Thanks, mike :thanks
