I heard rumblings of a rate increase, but the price for mine is still $60...same as last year. I do wish they would limit the boat size to 25ft and under though. IMO, The big boats belong on the Big Lake.

I would agree Savvy, When I was a kid, the average size boat was about 18ft. Now the lakes are filled with nothing but offshore wannabe's.

Don't think you'll ever see a size limit now, It has become quite a source of income, those big boats pay big bucks for their stickers. I would be willing to pay more if they would put a size limit out there. It gets to the point during the summer, I find other lakes to launch on. It just gets too crazy out there to fish. :?

They may hit you with a small ($3-$5) processing fee, but I don't think they would charge you any different for the actual sticker.

I just got a new boat and am looking to take it out on the chain. Mostly on weekdays as I hear the weekends can be a zoo.

Where do you purchase the stickers?

Most Baitshops/Marina's around the chain should have em'. I think you can also order one off the DNR website...?

Try CJ Smiths. Between Bluff and Petite. I believe it's on Grass Lake rd. Someone correct me?

Pond

You're right, Pond.
CJ Smith has them, Grass Lake Rd. Nice launch, take out until 10pm. Biggest damn fatheads you ever did see too!

If you get off the water by 10am on the weekends, you are OK. Other than that, it is a zoo. Thursday night they have the boat races at Blarney's Island on Grass Lake, so if you use the Chain 'O Lakes state park ramps, they are crowded after the races.

If you are driving up Rte 12, you can also get the sticker at the Fox Waterway Office. It is on the West side of the street, right by the Taco Bell.

Its been awhile since I have purchased a chain sticker. If I'm not mistaken you can purchase them right from The Fox Chain Waterway Management , they are right behind the Mcdonalds on Rte 12 in Fox Lake. Make sure you know the local rules!!!! Examples....night speed limit 25 mph....no wake zones..and the distance for no wake from shore. Be extra attentive to the rules when there are just a few boats out, the marine police watch like hawks!!! If they pull you over for any reason...they will check for ALL your equipment , fire extingisher, life jackets, sound device ect!! Its a good idea to take the Coast Guard class and put your class completion certificate sticker on your boat. Also the class is like 6-8 weeks one day a week...participate in class because the guy that teaches the class, is the one on the water patrolling!! That will get you a few "your ok to go"...passes for boat check points. Have fun!! be safe!!!
