The State Park, from what I understand, is closing their ramp this weekend. And the Fox Chain lowers the water level a foot and a half, starting this weekend.

Can you fish the Fox Chain from a boat after the draw-down has started? Where can you launch a boat I have a 16.5 with a 70hp motor and usually launch out of the State Park. I'm just getting started fishing the Chain and I usually fish Lake Marie, Channel and Catherine.

I don't see any reason to stop fishing just because water level is down. I had some luck last Sunday and the Sunday before. I'd like to keep trying for a while, before the ice starts to form.

Any advice would be appreciated.

The lowering takes a month. Barnacle Bob's is on Marie, just pass that on the north side is a ramp on channel... I can't recall the name. Also Cj smith is on spring next to bluff.

You can fish all you want, while they draw down. Only thing is, you have to be super careful you don't ruin your engine or prop.

I suppose it would be hard to go through Grass Lake once the water levels drop. (Or maybe you can, if your boat doesn't draw more than 2 feet.) But Marie should be fine. Do you agree. What about the pass from Lake Marie to Channel?

Thanks,

The channel will be no problem for most fishing boats.
