After an agonizing Bears loss I get a call from Denny Duck offering to put me out of my misery, didn't take long to convince me, so we headed over to Pistakee for a few hours of therapeutic night crappie time. The bite was fast and furious early on with first fish being a perch, bite slowed down after a while as scools moved in and out but not before Denny gets his night monster:

Between the two of us we touched about 40 crappies among a bunch of others (5 species I think) mixed in, by the time we called it the day none of us felt like cleaning any fish so the dozen or so we were going to kept ended back in the water awaiting for another date/adventure with the boyz...

Thanks Denny for a good peacefull and relaxing time out there, looking forward to next time!

great fishing and a good time Ad! that big girl made all the others look small, she was out of the water a total of 3 minutes while we got a camera ready. she was promptly cpr'd and resuscitated on her release to pass on those big girl genes next spring. i think that that might have been the biggest crappie i ever caught? while you were getting the camera ready and i had her in a 5 gal. bucket of water she had had a pretty good bend in her acoss the middle of it maybe 3 or 4 inches of bend? next time we have to make sure we bring something to measure them with. thanks for coming i really enjoyed the hunt.

A 5 gallon bucket is 12" across so any bending crappie is a good fish :)

maybe tiney? i never mesured them, i have a 10" mark on my crappie rods and they dont get in the basket unless they about touch it. so im figuring by looking at the photo that most of those other fish are tens and a couple of them are hanging over the planks by a couple inches that those plancs are probably 2x8". whats that make her a 15"or 16"????????????.

A Miller can is 2 1/2". Looking at the pic, those are probably 6" wide boards.
