hello everyone,
i caught 2 fish on saturday;
1 drum and the weather was sunny, then rain and wind.
then i thought i snagged a tree branch or something on the bottom of the lake.
i was reeling the line and nothing was fighting back so i set the hook and got within 5 feet of the seawall whatever had the hook split it back to me.
so then put a new crappie size minnow on the 1/4 chartreuse jighead and started casting in the same area, got another fish on and the fish when to the bottom not really fighting > so here we go again but lost the fish this time because i didn't set the hook good.
i was casting the same area for awhile then it started raining a little harder so i decided 1 more cast and BAM but this time i set the hook good .
i caught a 20 inch and 2 lb. 15 oz. walleye
the walleye was released as i release all fish caught
sunday i only caught a walleye under 12 inches and less than 1 lb.

Nice eye. I think I might have released that one to the grease. Looks like the perfect eating size.
hello tom,
i haven't had fresh fish like this since i was a kid up in barron county, wis (fish fry at family's friends house) or at berwyn fishries right by my house here in chicago which closed for good in the 1980's.
also i don't know how to clean fish for eating so i just catch and release every fish.

Here is a video that might help you Mark. The only way you really get good at it is practice, practice, practice. After a long day of fishing and a cooler full of fish to clean, even seasoned veterans still make mistakes on fish.
Give it a try.
Good point Mplant. Thanks for pointing it out.

MarkB, good report, nice pics... I might be wrong but I don't think you can't keep a 20" walleye on the chain. Without looking I think you can keep 14" to 18" & then over 24". Only let you know in case you want to cook 1. They are tasty

hello tracker127,
thanks for your reply and time
i cpwr all fish > catch, photograph, weigh and release for the next person and etc,etc...........
i love just going out fishing and releasing them because that's what i have been doing all of my life.
when i was a kid i thought fishing was stupid until i caught my first northern pike up in barron county, wis and the rest is history.
my godfather took me up there every summer and went fishing and caught crappie and bluegills until that northern and i fell in love with this fishing thing.
thanks for all of your time and replies guy its appreciated mark b
yep. slot info is right on. 14 to 18 is legal, and over 24. I believe you get 3 in the 14 to 18 range, and one over 24; with a total one man bag limit of 3 fish. What I want to know is where on Pistakee is he fishing? Is it private or public access? I work in the area (northeast of McHenry) until the end of the month. Where the fish biting? Because it isn't where I have been lately. PM's accepted, as well as invites (I'll even fillet them for you) j/k
Nice report
Too bad you missed the first two state records that spit the hook. Wall mounters if nothing else right? j/k
