Yes, the Fox Waterway User fee is mandatory and the price is based on your boat length and motor size. While the money does go to a good cause, there are varying opinions as to whether or not it's a reasonable price. I'll hold my comment on that, but I do buy one every year.

I figure if I go 6 times, then it's cheaper to get the anal sticker

Yep, I buy the annual. That way I be sure to get out there at least 6 times. Besides, I think you have to use the daily sticker with 24 hours of purchasing it???? That can be a pain if you can't buy it where you're launching.

The "anal" sticker... I know what the annual sticker is, but I definitely don't want the anal one Good job Ken... thats a nice muskie , and TJP, hopefully I will be able to use those flourocarbon leaders this year to catch myself a monster - not much luck last year. I love the chain... I need to get myself back up there and rent a boat or something. Pleasure boaters suck... I can't stand when they get very close to you full throttle, its like they have no consideration for anybody except themselves. Got to get something so you can crossline the water skiers - that would teach them.

Very nice fish and markings. Sounds like an interesting Chain day. To comment on the Fox Waterway Agency from the above post.. Its the second weekend in May and we are still without numerous buoys. How long does it take to set up the buoys? Pleasure boaters and fishermen alike are tearing up all of the nice weed beds. You would also be surprised at how many fishermen with a chain sticker mind you, act like everything is wide open. Meaning areas that are always no wake that they are well aware are no wake, get run through wide open. Ex: Inside the buoy line on Petite , through the Channel to Fox Lake, channel from Marie to Bluff, and so on and so forth. I definitely think that the average fisherman is way more aware of the contour of the lake then a pleasure boater does, however the pleasure boater is more apt to not care . I think they should set a standard scale say boats up to 26ft for price of waterway stickers and an extra 50 bucks for every foot after that. That way at least the guys that should take their boats to Lake Michigan get charged a heavy amount. I mean they'll pay it . Think of the amount of revenue that could be generated would help do good things hopefully, ie more Lake county boats, more Foxwaterway boats, or just them being out there way more . Food for thought before I end my rant . Technically from what I understand it is a ticketable offense to run on plane within 100 feet of shore. The amount of people and revenue generated from who do this just in one weekend would be quite sizeable. There I'm done

let me guess one last cast you have about a 24' boat just messin around we have a 16' lund with a 30hp. and a 25' fourwinds cruiser and the sticker is the same should have stuck with the 15hp the lund came with but what a differance in the possible damage the two boats could do the cruiser could do in one pass what would take 3 tanks of fuel in the lund and no I'm not one of them yahoo's tearing it up

Don't forget folks, the launch fees are just the start. You have to have a yearly Chain-O-Lakes permit sticker as well. Not sure about a daily rate.

Sometimes key letters don't appear and sometimes it looks more like thissssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss Pretty sure the daily sticker is $15.00 for under 25 foot boats and $30.00 for longer boats.

i can't take the chain due to pleasure boaters. too insane for me. why anybody would need to be on that water with a boat over 22 feet is beyond me.

yeah spring and fall only for me if i make it up there. get up there more in the fall. been meaning to try up there for some walleye in the spring but always get sucked in to H as its closer to me. despite all the pleasure boaters,it's a pretty good fishery in my opinion.
