I have not been out yet this year. From what I can see from the Fox Waterway site, normal pool is 4.5 feet. The chart shows the level to be a tad over 4 feet. If that is correct, that is not all that bad.

The levels are up over a week ago> You still have to watch it as some areas are still below summer pool.
Fished Friday 4/9/10 from 8:30 until 1:00. Cleaned 31 gills and 1 Crappie. Used 1/64 ounce jig and a perch worm with a waxie.m Fishe were in shallow and depths ranged fro 3 to 5 ft. Fishinf seemed to get better as the day went on, so perhaps that early start isn't relly necessary at this time of the year. Going try try aagain on Sunday.

I just checked their site. If 4.5 feet is normal pool, right now its showing over that. So, you should be fine. Just watch out for floating debris.

Just checked the Fox Waterway site. The lower river is now no wake. That means its rising. The rest of the chain should be just fine for boating.

Bait Shop at 24819 W. Route 173 in Antioch, IL is where I stop when I head out there. Old man Ed Sorenson (he's 91 I believe) has been selling bait for like 45 years and usually has some tidbits of information he is willing to share (ya just gotta ask him). Good lively baits with a generous count. Opens about 5:30 or so. He was open when I went out that way Sunday and I launched At Barnacle Bob's at 5:45am.
