I bought a boat in February and would like to test it out. Can I just launch it somewhere for free or do I need a sticker? Any info would be great.

You need a chain waterway sticker are available at a lot of places when you get up in the marinas baitshops and the waterway office is right on 12 behind the mcDonnalds on the water. You can launch at the state park for free. Just watch yourself the water is pretty high right now but there are no channel markers out yet so watch your depth finder if your going to run in the shallower lakes. I would say if you havent been up there before stay up on the deeper north end Channel Cathrine Marie and you'll be fine. Go on JDspinners website and printout some maps for yourself they'll help you alot. If you want to learn the chain that would be the guy to help you out he's lived up there and fished it all his life Good Luck and Be Safe, give a report if you fish.

Tomorrow I will look to get a sticker and I will attempt to launch for the first time solo on Wednesday. I will try Marie,Channel,Catherine and Bluff. I will throw some lures around, I will just be happy to get familiarized will the boat. I’ll post water temps and any results.
Thanks,
Luke

Dont be afraid to fish shallow.
A one day sticker is available for $10. Annual is usually 60.

just remember bouys are NOT in. Stick to the middle of all channels, you should be fine. Marie/Petite/Bluff/Channel are all relatively deep lakes, But Fox/Grass/Pistakee/Spring have some very shallow areas.....
