We hit the water at 6am on Saturday to find water temps at 60 and a gusty wind , the reports said it was going to be overcast.... ahhhh that perfect musky day we have been waiting for,,,just like being in the northwoods !!!! I put off raking leaves , cleaning the deck and closing the pool for the anticipation of a "fat girl" taking my lure or sucker !!!
(**minds out of the gutter please !**).
Launched on Marie at Bobs, I called Tom ahead of time and ordered some big , 12-18" suckers. We made our way to the usual spots. Set out the suckers , one guy threw hair and I threw some topwater,, yep I said topwater !!. As it got lighter I switched over and threw a white / nickel blade buchertail and ss shad. We worked different points and weed edges near the drop offs..
We made our way to Bluff for a short while and then made the run to Channel. Once we got under the bridge and saw Channel the wind had really picked up and was blowing right into the SW end of Channel. Looked promising We headed for the weedbeds and started throwing a black / chartuse maribou spinner and a shallow invader. We had our first action of the day in this area, my partner had a follow to the boat . He had a hard time doing a figure 8 because of sucker rod being in the way , I threw in right away but no takers, he swam off !!! A couple of guys in a boat close to us were bass fishing and connected with a 43" on 8lb test and no leader !!1 He fought the fish for awhile and at the boat the line broke. He really enjoyed the battle and that was his first musky experience with the toothy one !! I wonder if he got the "fever" now !!!
The only other action we had was on Catherine in 20 ft of water , I was pitching a big lipped pike colored jake with the hologram finish , I had a follow and he disapeared shoret of the boat,,seconds latter my sucker goes for a 5-6 foot ride !!! then stopped and that was it..

It could of been a better day but it was good being out.. I ran into Esoxtracker and JD and chat'd with for a bit. We trolled a little and headed back to the launch. We will try it again durning the week and next weekend. Maybe the weather and the fish will stabilize.
JD said it right,, this time of year can be the best and worst fishing you'll have !!
Well I'm off to cut the grass, put patio furniture in the shed , and clean up... Maybe just maybe later this afternoon I may make a trip to Shab !!
Tight lines to everyone,,, ~~T
