Got the boat out for an inaugural 2018 run on the chain Sunday. Started the morning trolling with a flicker shad on one side and a smithwick on the other. Started in Channel lake and hit a small musky within 10 minutes. Quick release and back at it. About 15 min later had a big fish on the smithwick. It was bulldogging and was hard to get the rod out of the holder. Once I had the rod in hand it was one good head shake and I thought it spit the hook. Turns out the hook came back about straightened. :shock we knew we lost a good one. Trolled some more and caugh about a 30in northern that absolutely smoked the lure.

After a while we went for some crappie in the channels and it seemed to pick up as the day went on. Some big gills swimming around too.

Ended the day with one last troll pass and hit another small musky.

Great day out.

Musky were both under 30". Water temps were low 50 by end of the day
