After much debate and a great deal of shoppping around, I took the plunge and finally bought a new kayak. I went to BP and bought the Ascend 10, fishing kayak. I spent a lot of time looking at various models and felt this was a good buy at a decent price. Since I was like a kid with a new toy, I drove to Hammel Woods in Shorewood and took the maiden voyage on the DuPage! After a short hike, I launched and away I went! Gotta tell ya, I'm hooked! Although I only stayed a short time, I can see the advantage to having one for the strip pits and Lake Michigan on nice days in close.

I'm working on rigging it out with electronics and a couple of extra rod holders. Can't wait for the ice to leave now!

Congrats! I bought my first kayak last Christmas season. Gander had the best black friday prices around. If your ever looking for someone to go with on the Dupage just let me know.

Tayking the Prowler 13 to Bussy for a maiden voyage. Will cast for a few bass or whatever.
One problem this morning was hoisting it up to the 45 deg rack on the car. It was an interesting sight, thank god for the middle handle it allowed me to eventually shift it at a propper angle. The rack is way over my head and the ladder was out of reach. It will be a learning process I'm sure.
