Anyone else have trouble with always getting your hooks stuck in the deck rigging?

Image

My kayak came with rigging (bungy-like cords) that run almost the whole length of the boat. I'll set my rod down to paddle a short distance, then find one of my hooks stuck in the rigging, near the bow with no way to get it out but to attempt to crawl up there on my hands and knees and fight with it. Not fun while out there in the waves.

Anyone have similar problems? I just removed it all, from the handles near the seat all the way up to the bow on both sides. Other than making for a nice looking pin striping job, I don't see much use for it anyhow.

I don't have any of the bunge cord rigging on mine. I was out in the Yak today w/2 rods and kept my extra rod down below under the hatch. I must say I only take what I'm gone use in the Kayak. I am learning to really keep it simple. So simple I forgot my paddle cord today. You seem to have alot of storage on yours as well. You have "tons" more expereince than me but I'm learning.

A real nice set-up.

Good to hear some feedback. I didn't know yours had the below deck rod storage. It's an awesome feature. I also have gotten hooks stuck in the straps for my front hatch. It's a shame because I never even use or open the front hatch. Maybe I can come up with some way to semi-permanently secure the hatch without the straps. Metal clips/tabs that screw into the holes where the straps are attached?

Ron, got a Cobra Fish & Dive with 2 large storage and 1 small round bait holder by the seat. It is a pain to crawl around but I like to keep the deck clean.

Ron,
Could you cover the straps with a plastic cover of some type to eliminate hooks catching it?

Also, I have seen a clear plastic tubing over the bungee type rigging on the front of your yac.
