Hi All,
Registration forms are updated and available on the event web page . Already available at the harbor, soon at bait shops and other supporting locations. This event is always great fun and keeps getting better thanks to the good people that show up, volunteer and donate to the cause. Start spreading the word.  We hope everyone who helped last year can again. Anyone new who would like info on how to help us, post questions here or PM me for info.

Regards,
Rod

Big Thanks!

Not a full update but didn't want to wait to tell.

Schooloffishcharters.com has again (3rd year in a row) donated a charter to the prize table! Great people.

Chicagofishingschool.com - Johnny Wilkins 3-Time World Championships Angler for Team U.S.A are preparing some how to tip sheets and certificates for free classes. Also if he can, Johnny will be at the derby helping out.

The Wing-stop / Northlake and Elmwood Park locations will be providing a generous portion of their tasty wings for the food table.

More soon...

I've got some cured skein I would like to give to the kids derby to use for bait. Is there anyone I can give it to so it will be there for the derby? I won't be able to make it to the derby.

Rod, I'll bet those electric razors are scooters to ride on and not for shaving. :winker

I got a big bag of spawn from ForestFish and might get some more from Bass1388. I'll be preparing it during the week in small plastic cups with lids for easy distribution like someone else did last year.

Maybe you can give some tips and pointers of how to use the spawn. I will prepare it accordingly in the plastic cups. The first year I did this with my nephew I had no clue and I just gobbed it on a big hook. I'm sure that some tips for using spawn and eggs here will go a long way with helping the kids and parents who are following this.

Electric scooters?? Now you just talking crazy :shock

Razor e90, e100 and espark models :D

Last year Lori (salmon stop) gave us some plastic bait cups. Probably would again if you need them.

Also Thanks to Herb - VCP for their help designing the Derby sticker that will be in the goodie bags!

I'm not the best one to give shore fishing tips. Will work on getting some posted. FYI, once you have boated a fish as big as the one in your avatar, no one believes you have no clue! :D

I use a pretty basic set up for skein fishing, a slip bobber using a single hook. I've never been a fan of using treble hooks for skein. Using a slip bobber allows you to target different depths of water to see what depth the fish might be hanging at. When trying to figure out what size to use, I'll go anywhere from a nickel size to a golf ball. Most of the time I go bigger if the water is a bit cloudy, smaller if it is crystal clear.

I hope this helps a little for those that aren't used to skein fishing.

Big Fish Prize!

Jim Tingey

https://www.catchandreleaseartwork.com/

Will be doing a personalized print, with picture, derby logo, framed, etc. for this years big fish winner. This is in addition to the winners pick from the prize table.

Jim is a very talented and generous guy. Our thanks to him.

A local hot dog stand "Tommy's" in Lake in the Hills is donating 150 small cups with lids for us to distribute the salmon eggs in. If you think we need more for the worms see if you can get them from Lori. In addition to the cured eggs ForestFish donated, Bass1388 will also be meeting up with us on Friday to drop off more skein. So there will be plenty of Brown Trout and King salmon bait available again this year for all the kids. :respect

Thanks to Tommy's! I believe the rest of the bait is ready to go. Every donation makes this a better and bigger event! Gee? A couple (100's) of plastic cups? What's the big deal! It makes it easy for us to distribute 100's of dollars worth of bait to the kids! A lot of people help and don't realize how helpful there help is!!! I need more time to explain why.... But till then if you want to help, show up! Have fun helping the kids!

Hi All,
Myself and a few other members will be at the harbor patio (tournament HQ) putting goodie bags together, setting a few things up and waiting for a few deliveries. If you want to help, drop something off or just say hi we will be there 6pm - ?
