This is a followup to the post about wire tagged salmon. We had DNR biologists at the Troller's meeting last Thursday. I asked about turning in heads. Unfortunately, there is no decision yet on whether to do that. All 4 Lake Michigan states and the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service must all agree on what to do and that has not happened yet. There is a possibility of saving and turning in heads, tails, or both this year. They also confirmed that as the tags are analyzed they will track the movement patters of the fish.

I found out one interesting fact that I will throw out as a question. The first person to answer it here will win a certificate for an extra hour charter. This is the same deal we give to repeat customers. You get a six hour charter for the price of a five hour ($100.00 value). Also we averaged 15 fish per trip on our 5 hours last year and just under 20 on our 6 hours. Also, we don't charge run time back in, its dock to lines out on our charters. I'll make this transferable so if Jim N. or Jerry T. get it and don't want it themselves, they can give it to someone else.

Question - Where was the farthest from Illinois' Lake Michigan waters that an Illinois stocked Salmon or trout was captured?

First to post the correct answer here wins.

I'd say Lake Huron.

Southshore is correct. A few years ago an Illinois planted steelhead was captured in a commercial fishing net in Louisiana near the Mississippi river delta. According to the fisherman who took it, it was still alive, barely, when he hauled in the net. Southshore, I'll send you a PM tomorrow.
