Bruce,

I don't know if the 80 larva will turn into 221 fish. Given their fragility, I doubt the larva would be able to take a hit. Unless, like waxies which can be very effective when mushed and floppy, the larva might still be effective even if they've been "popped". I've never used them so I don't know what to expect.

I'd be happy to help you extract your larva. Cost will be some Budweisers. Let me know when you want to get together.

Bud

ok...done with my extraction....lots of empty galls even without a hole. I got lucky and Jeff and another friend helped with the process. 3 of us spent 4 man hours total to open over 300. Once you got the hang of it... it was way faster...after opening the 1st few .... i'm thinking OMG this is gonna take all night! Cant wait to try them out on a finicky bite.

I did a bag full, too lazy to count but found that about 1/3 of them had larva and most where victims of fungus. I also sacrificed about 10 to the fishing gods with the shears. Then I left them out on the kitchen table, good thing my wife found them and put them in the garage.

Hopefully they work well. I can imagine if you rotate them in with spikes they last longer.
