If you are one of the fellas that caught them or happen to know these guys,
I sure would like to sit down and chat for a while.

Not just 14-1/2, but 14-1/2 PURE!
A pure does not grow as fast as a hybrid, do I have that correct?
How old would ya figure a fish like this is?

I could use a little help here.
Can anyone find any information anywhere in this world that tells of multiple 14 inch bluegills being caught from the same body of water on the very same day?
How bout maybe just a single 14 inch pure bluegill being caught in one of our local lakes?
Um, how bout anywhere?

That's what I say.
I was told today, by an Illinois Department of Natural Resources official, that he verified a catch of 14 1/2 inch pure bluegills taken by a group of fishermen on Saturday from the lake that I was fishing on today.
How can I doubt him?
But then, how can I believe him?

I've hit some gigantic bullgill in goose lake with my buddy. They were redear's but they were HUGE!!!! It was at least 13" is not bigger. I've never seen anything like them. I had never fished there before until then and he was telling me about them and how he fishs for just those fish in particular. So, I decided to drop my liver and give a few worms a try. I hit two of them in about 3 hours. Like I said before, they were freakishly large. It looked like a bluegill of steroids.

Any luc,
A few weeks I was looking at another local site and I came across a photo a HUGE blue gill. I will try to track down the link. I don't know if it is pure but i'll see what I can churn up.

Hi gang! Is a shell cracker a pure gill. How large do green sunfish grow. For years now I have been trying to identify those honey hole fish. It is a 50 year old pond 5 acres and it cant be seen from the sky its all shaded and has 5 springs flowing around it. Its surrounded by a 9000 acre swamp. I will show pick hoping they are still there we had a bad fish kill off last winter. Found hundreds of dead gills all over the edges this spring all 10'' or above fish. It made me sick as a dog to see them that way. Many had a big giant hump on there forhead. They were a moasic of green pumpkin and huges of other green colors below there laterial line thru there underbellie! I'll see this sunday if I can round three up for pics. Have to get down to the pond before snake season and poision ivey blooms. I am goiing to learn how to post picks this year Too! Happy hunting Da-Roc

I've got a tiny little honeyhole that produces 11"-12" average pures. Pond is only about 1 acre. Clear water, deep, and little weed growth. Thinking about heading out there in the morning, I will post pics if I do.
