As I mentioned in my last post, I took a trip to Australia. I didn't get a huge amount of fishing in, but I was still able to manage a few fish. One of them was a flathead, but I have no idea what the other ones were. I did notice that the country is infested with pufferfish, which was amusing until they started to destroy my bait almost every cast. Some other cool things I saw in the water were jellyfish, about a 4 foot long eel, and dolphins jumping right next to the boat. If you ever get an opportunity to go, absolutely take it. But just be aware that giant cockroaches get inside the house on a daily basis. After three weeks of temperatures in the mid 80s there, I forgot how cold it was here but still got out carp fishing a few times. All this rain boosted the current like crazy which resulted in me blanking four times. Today I was able to fish slack water in a barge repair slip and ended up with five carp totaling around 37lbs. All bites were very subtle, just a few twitches of the rod tip gave them away. Biggest one was 12lbs 4oz, but also ended up catching a 5 1/2lb mirror carp and an 8 pounder with a tag in it.
Here are some pictures.
