I've been fishing the canal quite often the past month or so with pretty consistent action, but unfortunately haven't been catching anything too noteworthy, as a vast majority of the fish I caught were under 10lbs. But I got out on Sunday and fought through the wind that blew some expensive equipment into the water (luckily I got it back). After about two hours without any action at all, I got a screaming run out of nowhere. I set the hook and I knew it was a good fish, I was estimating it at around 15lbs. I didn't realize how big it was until I actually got it into the net. Its head was the only thing that was able to fit in the net, and I thought for sure it was going to flop out while I was bringing it up the 8 foot drop down to the water. I knew this was one of the biggest carp I've caught, and it actually turned out to be the biggest fish I've ever caught. I finally broke the twenty pound mark with this 20lb, 2oz hog. That was the only fish of the day. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get out anytime soon since I just got hit with an unfortunate work schedule, but if I don't this is the best possible fish to end the year with.
