Fished the Indiana side of wolf lake today, fist time in twenty years. I'll be fishing it a lot more. Started out about 9 a.m. from the temp launch on sheffield ave. was not pretty, but was functional and had a security guard that was helpful and kept me off the sand bar that is not marked yet. I was told that the markers for the numerous shallow areas should be out soon. my homework for tonight is to find some sort of reference map to print out until then. on with the report, started right away with one of my favorite crawler harnesses. after fifteen minutes got bit, white bass and that continued thru out the late morning. I could not keep them off the hook, went thru a dozen crawlers and then switched to a twister tail on a black jig and caught 2 more white bass and 2 crappie about 9 inches. Moved over to the power lines and marked fish in 13 feet and put the crawler harness back out...was letting line out and bam, fire drill.motor dies, drag wasn't set right the net got stuck..but i still landed my first walleye of the season watching the weather...going to be out their a lot more.

be careful out there spin doctor. the whole lake was restructured a few years back. the deep holes aren't as deep any more and the shallows aren't the shallows no more. take your time and study it out.

Spindoctor-
Great walleye. Not to put a damper on your report, but those are probably White Perch instead of White Bass that you're catching. They rule the lake. They are an invasive species, so make sure you kill all that you catch. Last bunch I caught all had eggs in them. Glad you picked up a couple Crappies, too. Keep after 'em.

I just moved to the South Loop and have been fishing smallies out of Burnham Harbor lately. I don't have a boat so I need to settle for shore fishing. Are there any good shores on Wolf lake to fish from? What works the best out there? Thanks
