hit the sag with steve tonight from 7pm til about 10, out in the alsip area. threw night crawlers on lines, usually with no bobber, but at times, with a bobber (no bobber produced better..the fish were more on the bottom). we caught probably between 15 and 20 bullhead, a few of which were very chunky for yellow bullhead. steve also caught 1 striper. we caught a few of these fish... kinda like a bluegill but with a HUGE mouth and cool, outlined fins. what are these? they're really chunky and fight well for their size.

Those dang green sunfish are the "gobies of the CCFP lake system". Bigger pests than blue gills, and usually smaller. If you catch one over 6'' it is a better size fish (so far 9'' was my best). They will cross breed with gills, and I've caught some strange hybrids. Was catching quite a few hybrids from the Maple cribs while ice fishing. Oh well, at least they will provide good times for the kids for the Duke fishing derby!

Here's a hybrid even the biologist can't ID (from the picture).

To change things up once in a while, I'm all for other species, BUT, Tom is right Matt.
I'm a bass fisherman to the end, I'm hoping this summer will put you on the addiction list after our adeventures are over.

Now, don't go getting any rods until we consult. I've got some things in mind for you......and they equal big bass. There will be no topwater fishing with me using 8 lb. line and quarter ounce lures. I don't care what anyone says, wait til you see the new saltwater lures I got....the bass are gonna love them

hey tom-
im all about hittin the sag east, as long as you provide the bulletproof vests :) im really really hurting for bass right now, trust me...sunfish and bullhead ARE NOT bliss for me... however, i went out twice a day almost every day last week and got like 4 bass... so i needed another fix. if you have a place that is hittin right now, though, im ALL for it!
and mike...we'll talk.
