Anyone know if the North Point Marina is closed?

I would assume yes as it is a state facility.

Is north point privately owned now? Isn't that why the launch fee started?

mgmt of it was leased out,

not sure how that factors into the shut down though,

One of the dumbest things Illinois could have done. Let's keep people crammed in tight quarters, rather than let them get out into nature, away from large numbers of people, and go hiking, fishing, kayaking, etc, and actually get to feel normal for a while, again.

I just called Northpoint Marina to check on whether the marina will be open or not.

The response was this:

1) The marina will remain open (at this time).
2) They will not be able to have any concessions or anything serving food/drink.
3) The State Park portion of things will be closed per IDNR shutdown.

This is good news for boaters looking forward to the spring fishing season! Hope this helps clarify a thing or two. Of course this situation could change at anytime, so keep that in mind. Everything seems to be in a state of flux.

Can't find the link. Is it a state park?

Ridiculous. No better way to socially distance yourself than to get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air.

Has nothing to do with boat ramps and everything to do with gatherings and protecting state employees. Sucks for sure but has to be done.

Gatherings I can understand, but in all these years I have never had a state employee help me launch or retrieve the boat, let alone offer. :?

Unless someone is there to assist in an emergency, anyone closer than ten feet to the boat on the water is going to get an ear full of choice words.

600+ dead in spain in the last 24 hours. it's probably ok if we take a few weeks off of fishing.

I do not think that the lake is closed . There should be ramps open .

PLEASE LET ME KNOW .
I can not look at all the spots . To see what is open and what is closed . We should start a list and pin it at the top .
I do not know if you all know about Karen and I .
We both were members of the Last IL. Conservation Congress and are both friends with Ret. Congressman Peter Roskam .
So if there are closed ramps then let me know and I will try and call the Governor and IDNR and try to get them open .
I agree that we do not interact with people when launching boat . Plus it is healthy to get outdoors . The weather is getting warmer , so it is not like we are going out in freezing weather where you get sick .
I would suggest to my friends here , if possible , to get out for a hike . I always tell Karen we are looking for antlers LOL .

Captain Bill .

Agreed

It's out of our control and we have other resources available. It would be best if we didn't have to moderate threads because of a virus that is killing people. Let's just keep it focused on the outdoors, limit the bitching and hope that everyone we know, people we don't will all stay healthy and out of harms way.

The shut down SAYS to get outside exercise . Does NOT say do not go fishing .
Stand by what I have said . Get outside and enjoy nature when weather is good . Fish during this shut down will be my first choice .

The virus stays viable for hours and longer depending on the surface. That would include gas pumps. Might not affect you but could an elderly or sick person in your family. This is a time not to be selfish. I don't like not fishing either.
