Do any of you guys know if they still run the warm water discharges in the indiana harbor? Seems like it's a crap shoot to know when they might be running water.

Thanks Fellas

Pretty sure that is closed to fishing these days? At least inside the port.

The Port of Indiana is off limits to pleasure boats. There are warm water discharges in the Ditch that can be cast to (Launch at Portage Marina, you never have to hit the lake), off the beach at Baileys, and at the Gary Light. I used to fish that area when I was young and bullet proof, and did very well in between the icebergs. South winds for a day usually clear the area of ice. It's an incredible area to fish, all winter long. If the ice locks you up, you can still fish from shore inside the Port. Have to stop at the guard gate when entering the Port and let them know you are going to fish. Great shore spot from February/March until the coho move offshore. Easy access, handicap access, with bathrooms too. Between this access and the creeks, a yearly Indiana licence is well worth it each year.

indiana harbor ship channel has at least 6 hot water discharges between the light and the first bridge one or two of them are always pumping i have never been run out of there but you must comply with the rules fishing vessels must never cause a commercial vesseled to alter its course or speed monitor channel 16 for commercial announcements
