Looking to launch for the high 40 degree weather this weekend on the big pond for some near-shore lake trout action but not sure if any of the launches are clear enough to get to the lake. Does anyone know of a harbor that is open enough to launch?

Chicago, Burns, I'm not picky...

Thanks in advance!

Go to Indiana. They are getting limits of coho. Almost like springtime.

Sounds great, thanks.

I don't have a ton of experience going down there other than charters. Do you happen to know of an open harbor? Is it Michigan City or near the Calumet where people launch most?

Not sure what's open but I would first try Pastrick or Portage.

Portage municipal launch. Head down the Ditch and set up at the mouth.

You guys are awesome! I got the permission slip signed by the Mrs so I'm heading out tomorrow morning.

I'll post under a new one with my results.

Saw Jon Gillespie was slaying the lakers off of Chicago Light this week too.

Not going to lie to you guys - I chickened out.

Stopped by the lake on Saturday night and saw a couple sizable icebergs floating on the lake and decided that catching a couple of lake trout wasn't risking a Titanic reenactment. Hopefully with this warm weather we'll be completely ice free soon!

Pastricks in East Chicago is open there have been a few boats out this week. Not sure if all the launch piers are in, no ice today don`t what this strong NE wind will bring.
