After seeing the West winds we had all night, and 1 foot waves early this morning, I decided to wake Cody up and give it one last shot at catching a $25,000 fish. I figured some of the cold water that has been right below the surface might upwell from the West winds and I was right. 57 degree water on the surface right in front of the harbor.

We left the dock at 4:30 and headed right back to where we set up on Thursday. Set lines just North of the line in 60fow on a North troll. The waves weren't too bad while setting but the wind was whipping from the North. Before we could get our 6 rods in, the rigger down 30 fired and Cody brought a Chunky, Tuna craving Coho to the net. Reset that rod and the other 2 rods in our spread and a few minutes later the 200 copper starts screaming. This was a feisty 9 pound King that gave Cody quite a fight for it's size. Once again, Tuna was on his menu.

After that things went silent for the next hour and the waves had built to 4 footers. Speed control became difficult and dipseys kept tripping, so we decided to pull rods and head back with our 2 fish and 1000 batting average before things went south.

I would have liked to stick it out for longer after the drive up, but sometimes you gotta know when to quit. Breakfast sounded real good after getting tossed around and rain soaked. I'm still glad I made the trip to get Cody one more King this week.

You have it dialed in this week, too bad for the waves! I would agree, worth the trip! Thanks for the report!

Nice job Ron! Too bad you just didn’t have a little more time. Sounds like you were dialed in and ready to fill the cooler. Hopefully this wind won’t send those fish really deep. Thanks for posting.
